Konbit Okap is a community-led restoration initiative by MACHE Community Inc. in partnership with Voices From Home Haiti. What began as a 30-day mobilization of 16 local workers has now grown into a team of 21 workers committed to cleaning and restoring a neglected boulevard and surrounding beach area in Okap, Haiti.
Phase 2: Restoration — Current Focus
We are now moving into beautification. This phase includes adding soil, mulch, palm trees, decorative plants, recycled hexagon block installations, and landscaping features to transform the boulevard into a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming public space.
Current Fundraising Goal: $10,550 USD
Funds will support:
- Daily wages for 21 workers
- Soil installation and transportation
- Mulch and ground cover
- Palm trees and decorative plants
- Boulevard beautification features
- Recycled hexagon block installations
- Long-term environmental restoration support
Make an Impact Today
Every contribution to Konbit Okap directly supports both environmental restoration and economic opportunity. This is a hands-on project where funding translates into real work—cleaner streets, restored coastal areas, and paid labor for local workers. Beyond the physical transformation, the initiative contributes to community pride, improved safety, and the long-term care of shared public spaces.
Konbit Okap represents a collective effort to restore not just land, but dignity and opportunity. With community at the center, this initiative demonstrates what is possible when resources are directed toward action. Support for this project helps initiate meaningful change—one space, one team, and one step at a time.
On the Ground Team
The individuals shown in this photo are the actual team members currently on the ground in Okap, doing the work each day to restore this space. This is the same group of 16 local workers who are actively clearing debris, cleaning the roadway and surrounding beach area, and helping to improve safety and accessibility for the community.
Their efforts are hands-on and ongoing, with visible progress being made in real time. This initiative is not abstract—these are the people directly carrying out the work, and your support goes toward sustaining their daily efforts, providing wages, and enabling the continued transformation of this environment into a clean, restored, and community-centered space.
